“A Breath of Hope” Snow-skin Mooncake Workshop for Lung Cancer Patients

Date: Saturday, 8 September 2018 (2:30pm – 5:30pm)Location: Unit B, 10/F, Speedy Industrial Building, 114 How Ming Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon
As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, many of us will be looking forward to sharing mooncakes with family and friends. However, mooncakes sold in the market may be too heavy for lung cancer patients.

To allow lung cancer patients to enjoy their Mid-Autumn Festival and healthy mooncakes, a Breath of Hope ran a Snow-skin Mooncake Workshop on 8 September. About 30 lung cancer patients and their families attended. Chef Ms. Celia Chan taught them to make mooncakes with two different healthy fillings: matcha & red bean; and purple sweet potato. Clinical oncologist Dr. Stephen Yau also joined the workshop and enjoyed making mooncakes with patients. In the sharing session, he provided advice on healthy eating and addressed participants’ medical concerns. He advised patients to maintain a healthy and balanced diet without special food restrictions, and to watch their nutritional intake to fight against the cancer.

All those who participated very much enjoyed the workshop, and most importantly, were able to take their mooncakes home and share them with family and friends, bringing joy and happiness during this festive period.

We wish you all a happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
